A Summer of SUPERHERO Fun in Scottsdale

Scottsdale Public Art, in collaboration with the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts and the Scottsdale Civic Center Library, has a list of events and workshops scheduled throughout the summer for everyone to enjoy. Below are the dates and events, some events you will have to RSVP
 
Thurs. June 9, ZAP’s Costume Ball, 7:30-10:30 pm
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts Atrium. Free Event. Are you into Cosplay? Dress as your fave Comic Character and come to the first event that will kick-off a summer of activities for ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950. Live music from local band SuperStereo. Photos by the "paparazzi!" We will upload your character to SPA’s Facebook page! Costume contest! Light food, drink and cash bar until 9:30pm.

Tues. June 14, Cartoon Movie Afternoon, 1-3 pm Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Stage 2 Theater. Free movies for families, old-school cartoon shorts on the big screen in the Stage 2 Theater! Popcorn, Candy, Root Beer and Orage soda provided by The Cider Mill, with old-time prices!

Wed. June 22, Drawing Comic Panels With Artist Denny Michael Riccelli(Last minute change), 2-4 pm Located in TheGallery@theLibrary at Scottsdale Civic Center Library. Free workshop for kids 10 and up! Limited to 20 participants.

Thurs. July 7, ZAP! 2TONEDISCO Music Event, 7-9 pm Free mini-rave! 7051 E. 5th Ave, Downtown Scottsdale (next to TeaTime)! Dance party enthusiasts 2ToneDisco bring it with audio- anime/comic themed video! Costumes! Dancing!

Tues. July 12, Retro Movie Nite, 7-9 pm Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts, Stage 2! Free retro movies on the big screen! Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and Ed Wood’s Plan9 from Outer Space. Soft drinks, cocktails (cash bar), candy, popcorn!

Thurs. July 21, ZAP! POW! BAM! Mock Battle on the Mall, 6:30-8:00 pm Free and in front of the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts. Are you a Superhero or a Supervillian? Find out with a fun water gun battle! Only water guns allowed, some will be provided, plus the water! For kids of all ages! Wear your cape!

Thurs. August 18, DJ, Sketch Night, 8-10 pm Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts Atrium. Free sketching event! Sketch from live superhero models! Live music and models for sketching! Cash bar available. Adult event (18 or older).

Wed. August 31, Story-Telling and Character Creation in Comic With Artist Mike Macropoulos, 2-4 pm Located in TheGallery@theLibrary at Scottsdale Civic Center Library. Free workshop for kids 10 and up!
